SONG OF THE WEEK: SIDEWAVE- BIG WHISPER

When Audioeclectica was first getting going, there were a handful of bands that I couldn’t wait to share with everyone. one of those bands was spacegazers, Sidewave. Think of Failure, Siamese Dream era Smashing Pumpkins and Hum all mixed together. Lush atmospheric soundscapes, heavy guitars and a delicate vocal delivery that all together shines.

The bands first release in quite some time is here and despite the title, it’s leaving quite the big expression. “Big Whisper” is a fuzz driven yet bright shoegaze soaring song. The textures of the song are a trip to explore.

“Big Whisper” is the first release from the upcoming album, Dispel, which will arrive on October 23, 2026.

SONG OF THE WEEK: FEAR FACTORY- ROBOTICIST

At long last, the first new Fear Factory song with new vocalist, Milo Silvestro! “Roboticist” is straight off the assembly line and drilled straight into your ears. Musically it’s classic Fear Factory in that it’s got a great groove, heavy riffs, thundering drums and the right amount of electronic and industrial soundscapes. Vocally it’s right there in the same lane. The harsh vocals really hit and the cleans come through with individuality as well as respect to the past. All together this is just the start of more new Fear Factory. Well done!

SONG OF THE WEEK: DOWN- BLOOD OATH

It’s been twenty four hours since Down released “Blood Oath,” their first new song since 2014! Right off the bat it’s got that classic Down sound. You know that sludgy sabbath sound?! Kirk and Pepper really play off each other seamlessly. While Pat and Jimmy are locked in with an extra bit of swagger. And the. Phillip H. Anselmo sounding as crisp, clear and thunderous! Needless to say it’s been in heavy rotation since the release!

Down’s long awaited new album, Volume V, arrives on November 20th! It’s been twenty years since their last full length album! Crazy! On a personal note, I have a deep affinity for Down. So much so I get into arguments because I think Down is better than Pantera! Yeah I said it! I’ll explain that at a later date. In the meantime (pun intended since Down and Helmet are on tour together), enjoy “Blood Oath” and be sure you crank that volume!!

SONG OF THE WEEK: EMMA RUTH RUNDLE- ENOUGH

Artistic expression through poetry and music are so synonymous its second nature at this point. The ones that make truly unique and meaningful work always seem to evoke a very intrinsic feeling that washes over the listener. One such great example is Emma Ruth Rundle. Throughout her career, she’s consistently found a way to not only keep you intrigued but also makes you listen. In her upcoming new album, These Killing Times, Emma ushers in another dimension of her art. The latest single “Enough,” is epic and grabbing. There’s a whimsical twist that creates an incredible feeling within the song. The pulsating rhythms mixed with the nuanced melodic sensibility, makes this a great song.

SONG OF THE WEEK: EMMA RUTH RUNDLE- POWERLESS

Artists that are truly artists, have the ability to convey even the simplest of concepts or words into a meaningful language that is poetic and creative. Then you add in the music, melody and the notes that make it all come together.

Throughout Emma Ruth Rundle’s solo career, she’s been able to weave her poetic prowess into deeply articulate songs that hit more in a modern art form mixed with music. The first single “Powerless” from her upcoming album, These Killing Times (out September 18), embodies the essence of the previous statements into a more sonically reactive sound. The album features drummer Jess Gowrie (Chelsea Wolfe, Mrs. Piss), long-time friend and collaborator Troy Zeigler, Patrick Shiroishi, Nick Reinhart (Tera Melos), Gina Gleason (Baroness), Marissa Nadler and more.

Emma is a force of nature and this is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s going to be another gem in her genre defying catalog.

SONG(S) OF THE WEEK: XCOMM- HOT PURSUIT / ONE AND NOTHING

XCOMM ARE THE REAL DEAL! I’ve been stoked on this band since I heard them a couple years ago. Already they’ve hit the ground hard with two banger releases in “Reasons” and “Fake I.D.” Now here we go with more and one in particular that is damn good! That’s right two songs in one! The video for them as well is fun, inquisitive, and very much them. Way to hit another one out of the park Dean Karr! The first song “Hot Pursuit” continues their hardcore/punk style with gritty vocals and charging riffs. The second song though is the one that’s going to put them over. “One And Nothing” is one hell of a great post-hardcore song. Not only does this show that each member has chops but, it shows they can write! Ross Robinson really got great things to come out of XCOMM. Really look forward to what is to come for these lads! BAND OF THE WEEK: LVX

A few days ago I heard a song that really intrigued me. I must have listened to it at least a dozen times. The song is quite a cinematic one with bits of industrial, post-punk/goth vibes and a heavy side that pulsates throughout in a myriad of of ways. The band is called LVX and the song is called “Writhe.” LVX is the brainchild of Justin Hanson and Garrett Smith. Justin was the drummer of the LA based band Lesser Key, who if you haven’t heard, check it out! “Writhe” also features guitar work by Paul D’Amour, formerly of Tool as well as Lesser Key. The title of the song is quite fitting as the whole thing unfolds. I’m very interested in what else is to come from LVX. Keep your ears and eyes open for LVX as 2026 comes!

SONG OF THE WEEK: THE ANTI GROUPIES- I CAN’T

The Anti Groupies are one of the most exciting and best up and coming bands in all of the Southern California area! I’ve said it before about these ladies that they are the rock band we’ve been waiting for! They have the right attitude, songs, performance, can play their asses off and a great take no prisoners approach. Did I mention their songs?! Every song released since their inception has gotten better and better. Their most recent single “I Can’t” is one of the best “summer songs” I’ve heard in a long time. Not just that, it’s super anthemic in a fun catchy way. Cassidy, Isabella, Sydney and Kyla have a bond that not a lot of bands have and their authentic selves shine oh so bright. I’m personally quite excited for what’s to come for The Anti Groupies! Do yourself a favor check out this song and all their others, and make sure to go see them live!
