ALBUM RANK UPDATED: LED ZEPPELIN

Led Zeppelin is one of the best bands of all time. I’d even go out on a limb and say they are better than The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Led Zeppelin had it all from the songs, live show, musicianship, mystique and then some. You’d be hard pressed to find a catalog of a band with the amount of greatness, that Led Zeppelin put out. Below is the definitive album rank of all nine Led Zeppelin studio albums.

ALBUM RANK: KILLSWITCH ENGAGE

After the decline of nu-metal in the mid 2000’s, the hunger for heavier music became rabid. The polarizing “New Wave Of American Heavy Metal” took the best of the three worlds of heavy metal, hardcore and punk and laid a forever legacy and foundation for generations to come. One of the first names that comes to mind when talking about this era is Killswitch Engage.

Killswitch Engage has the unique perspective to have essentially three chapters so far. What is really interesting about this, is to hear the evolution of a band through twists and turns both professionally and personally. These lessons play out through the music and lyrics. When listening back through all their albums, certain one of course will always be classics but, hearing the others with a different thought process makes those stand out in different ways.

Below is the Audioeclectica Album Rank of all nine Killswitch Engage studio albums.

From their debut through their peak into the now, Queens have always been a group to not rest on what they’ve done before. And while not every album can be the best, there are those that truly stand out and a couple that really don’t quite hit the mark. Take a moment and delve into this pretty trippy catalog from Queens Of The Stone Age. And while you are listening, find something new to enjoy about these records! For well over twenty years now and ten full length studio albums, Trivium have cemented themselves at the forefront of heavy metal. Each of their albums shows growth as a band and as songwriters. The word consistency is synonymous with Trivium as they have truly been working hard since their debut being out on the road and in the studio. The last three albums of theirs especially have put Trivium into the upper echelon of metal bands. Currently the band is working on their eleventh album with producer Josh Wilbur. ALBUM RANK UPDATED: CONVERGE

When you have such a storied career like Converge it gets harder and harder to put certain things like their albums into a ranking order. Since the release of their tenth album, Love Is Not Enough, I have been on quite the Converge listening kick. After listening through their catalog and spending a good amount of time with their new album, I do believe I have a very definitive ranking of Converge’s ten studio albums. While not every album can be the best, each record surely leaves a lasting mark on their history as well as influence and inspiration of so many other bands.

ALBUM RANK: LINKIN PARK

Ranking albums is never easy. More often than not it’s all based on opinion anyways. Which is totally fine and respectable, provided of course you have good reasoning behind your choices. Certain bands have a catalog that makes it difficult to put in an order. There might be an album that is very personal to ones self and then there is an album that is just sonically so different that it stands out so much in a great way. Linkin Park is one of those types of bands. Their early records really struck a cord with the younger audience and certain ones grew with the band, while some just wanted what they had at that moment. One thing is for certain, over time, Linkin Park has proved why they catapulted to the highest level. Take a few to delve into their catalog and discover things you most certainly have missed.

ALBUM RANK: THE CURE

Ever since I was a little kid (which was a long time ago), I’ve been a fan of The Cure. That might seem weird to some but hey, it was the late 80’s and I was very into MTV. I mean, how could you not be intrigued by a band where the singer has crazy hair and wears red lipstick?! Anyways, The Cure has been one of those bands who constantly push themselves to new territory and boundaries. The lyrical content has shaped the lives of so many for well over forty years. Musically, the influence is heard in oh so many bands you love. If you’ve really never listened to The Cure, here’s what I’d like to think is quite the definitive ranking of their fourteen studio albums! Enjoy!

ALBUM RANK UPDATED: BUSH

It’s crazy to think about sometimes that you’ve been listening to a band for over thirty years. Then when you look at how old you are, it’s pretty much a lifetime of listening to a band. I still remember the first time I heard the band Bush. I distinctly remember being in the car with the radio on (106.7 KROQ) and heard “Everything Zen” and I was hooked. Now over thirty years later and ten albums deep, Bush, are still going and as good if not better than before. The second act of Bush has given new life to the old and brought a bevy of great new songs and a live show that is so energetic and quite the rocking night. That all being said, lets go through the ten Bush albums and put them in a proper rank!

ALBUM RANK UPDATED: DEFTONES

For well over thirty years now, Deftones have cemented themselves as one of rock and alternative music’s most influential and inspiring bands. Throughout their career, they’ve always pushed the boundaries of genres and constantly found new elements to add into their ten studio albums. When you listen to a band like Deftones, it can be a bit polarizing in that you expect one thing and get something else. Not every album in a band’s catalog is going to be amazing. Some right away will be “That One,” while others might take a bit to grow on the listener. And sometimes, you just have a dud. It all happens. Even a dud, albeit as a whole might not be good, there are still some moments or songs that give it a glimmer of a bright spot. RAnking albums is never easy especially when you tackle a catalog such as Deftones. And with that here’s the Audioeclectica Updated Album Rank.

ALBUM RANK UPDATED: RADIOHEAD

For the past couple of weeks, Radiohead has been back on stage for the first time in years. It’s pretty great to have them back again. As much as I was enjoying Thom and Jonny’s other project, The Smile, I’ve been wanting new Radiohead for a long while. If you’ve seen the set lists they have been playing it’s otherworldly. Pulling out so many choice deep cuts as well as songs not played in years, Radiohead fans like myself are pretty ecstatic about it all. So naturally, I went through all their albums the past few days and have an updated ranking of their albums. Granted this is just my personal ranking, I do think I nailed the top five. What would your order be? What’s your favorite album?
