DREAM TOUR AND SET LIST: THE SMASHING PUMPKINS & STONE TEMPLE PILOTS

The other day I was listening/watching an interview Billy Corgan did with Robert and Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots. If you haven’t seen the interview, it’s quite a good one. Billy asks really good questions and the history they all go into is rather fascinating. While I was listening, I had an idea and I started to put it all together. What if in 2026 there was a tour that had The Smashing Pumpkins and Stone Temple Pilots together? Personally, I think it would be one hell of a tour and each night it would be pretty magical. So, with that in mind, I put together what I think would be 2 great set lists for both bands. Also, check out the interview too!

The Magnificent Ones Interview with Robert & Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots:

I Have An Idea: Machine Head, Biohazard & Hatebreed Tour

This past weekend the Milwaukee Metal Fest made its triumphant return. The lineup was stellar all around and after watching all the video clips from the 3 day festival (4 if you count the Thursday Pre-Party), it really made me think I should’ve gone. While checking out a ton of clips of so many bands it got me thinking, what if out of this fest a rad tour package came out of it and here’s my idea. Now, this is just hypothetical but, would be seriously awesome if it did happen, a Machine Head, Biohazard and Hatebreed tour. You could even throw on an up and coming band on the bill to open the whole thing like Dying Wish, Creeping Death or someone else. Think about this, Biohazard is back and their set was straight up fire from what I saw. Machine Head’s new album is a banger and those songs really need to be played live. And then you have Hatebreed to bring it all together and just murder out of the gates. I don’t know about you but, I would be at that tour in a heartbeat.

The Breakdown:
Machine Head- 100 min set
Biohazard- 90 min set
Hatebreed- 60 min set
Opener- 30 min set

Have it at a place that holds about 2,000-4,000 people.

Tickets: $40

This could and should totally happen! Just imagine how awesome this tour would be!

Alternate Versions: New Order- Senses (Cargo Demo)

Over the past couple days, I went on a bit of a Joy Division/New Order binge. It’s truly amazing how many bands have been influenced/inspired by these two bands. New Order’s debut album Movement, is one of those albums that is truly special. It’s part continuation of where Joy Division left off but, there’s new ground being explored in a subtle manner that will eventually lead to where New Order wound up. One of the songs off of this album that stands out in a really great way is “Senses.” One of my best friends loves this song so, I thought I’d dig up an alternate version of it and see if you can tell the difference between the two.

Dream Tour/Set List: Thrice, Every Time I Die & Cave In

audioeclectica-radio-logo.jpg

It’s been a while since I did one of these and this one is pretty damn awesome. Earlier this year, this dream tour came to me when Two Minutes To Late Night started their series where 2 bands cover each other. The first one was Every Time I Die taking on a Cave In song (Youth Overrided from Antenna) and Cave In taking on an Every Time I Die song (Moor from From Parts Unknown). When that was announced it got me thinking that those two bands should tour together. Then I started seeing comments from other bands and Riley Breckenridge from Thrice was super stoked on these covers and that’s when I had the idea. Dream Tour and Set List featuring Thrice, Every Time I Die and Cave In. Imagine the possibilities of these three awesome bands on one bill for a whole tour! So much awesomeness happening with this line up. Now the set lists are where it gets interesting and tricky. And as always I set up some parameters to make it more fun.

I had an idea recently to expand upon the Ultimate Set List category. I thought that if I were to put together a “dream tour” scenario into the aether, that maybe, just maybe, it might come true. The first one I came up with involves Mastodon, Neurosis and the very awesome, O’Brother. All three of these bands have released fantastic new albums. Mastodon’s Emperor Of Sand is well on it’s way to my album of the year for 2017.
