One of my favorite things about running and writing Audioeclectica is when I get emails/messages from bands. The personal approach really goes far. Recently, a band reached out and while reading what they wrote me I was completely awestruck by their music. Which brings me to the Band Of The Week, Dinerboy.

Dinerboy is a six piece band based in Southern California. What you hear when you listen is an excellent array of eclecticism in that you hear hardcore, 90’s alternative rock and new wave in their sound. All three elements together make an aggressive yet melodic hard charging sound. Their debut EP, is a tightly wound burst of attitude, energy and exploration. Definitely one to listen to and let it soak into your skin.

Now, Dinerboy returns with their second record, Armchair Activist, which will be released in early January of 2027. This new released finds Dinerboy expanding on their debut EP’s sound and adding more even more chaos into their spectacularly eclectic sound. It’s really cool to hear the new wave elements become more pronounced amongst the heavier hardcore/metal style. The first single released “Better Home” is a burst of hooks, subtle textures, heavy guitars, rumbling rhythms and soaring vocals.

Dinerboy is a band that deserves your attention. Theres a “Call To Arms” feeling you get when listening. So when the time comes for Armchair Activist to be released, make sure it’s loud so everyone else can listen too!
