Late last summer when I went to see Reba Meyers play a solo show, the direct support band that evening really caught my ears. It was one of those moments when you hear a band you know nothing about and it just makes sense. That band was Melted Bodies and I just got the chance to see them again and good golly were they just as awesome.
I remember mentioning to a friend of mine about Melted Bodies and how they really struck a chord with me. Fast forward a few months after and that same friend sends me a message saying he’s been listening to Melted Bodies and they are playing at this spot called Oblivion. Well that was a no brainer of an idea. And so on a crisp and clear Thursday night my friend Adam and I ventured to a new spot to see a great band.
For about 35 minutes, this small long room felt very quaint but, full of so much energy, I’m surprised there weren’t more holes in the wall. Playing songs off their most recent album, The Inevitable Fork, Melted Bodies ripped through song after song with a vengeance. Their industrial, post punk, hardcore and metal sound really is a sonic adventure you need to see and hear live. The groove of the songs mixed with the electronic elements and the scathing vocal delivery is in your face and in a great way drilled into your body.
Bands like Melted Bodies aren’t the run of the mill and thank goodness. In a time when so many bands try to cop a style from another, the members of Melted Bodies have been able to transform their influences into a musical carnival experience.
Be sure to be in the lookout for when Melted Bodies is playing next. It’s a band you don’t want to miss seeing live!
