Mutoid Man

New Release: Mutoid Man- Demons

I’m already beyond stoked about the new Mutoid Man album, Mutants, coming out on July 28. One of the things I really enjoy about Mutoid Man is the fun aspect to what they do. Don’t get me wrong, there’s definitely a serious factor to what they do but, they really have this playful sensibility that gives you a little smirk as you listen. And live, it’s even better. The new song they have released “Demons” is a banger and then some. The roots of the song go all the way back to 2018 with singer/guitarist Stephen Brodsky commenting on it “We played PsychoVegas in 2018 and to celebrate the occasion, we thought it’d be fitting to open with a cover of ‘Psycho‘ by the Sonics. We learned the song about 20 minutes before our set, and had such a blast playing it that we decided to write our own little psycho jam. And with that, we present to you ‘Demons‘ — enjoy!” And Enjoy you shall!

New Release: Mutoid Man- Siren Song

Alas!!! “Siren Song” the second single from Mutoid Man’s new album, Mutants has arrived. The album will be out on July 28th and it’s shaping up to be quite a fun and killer record. This is also the band’s first album with new bassist Jeff Matz who you might know from High On Fire. One of the things that makes Mutoid Man such a fun band is that they are always mixing different styles like rock, prog-rock, punk, metal, hardcore, even a bit of the sludgy/stoner side of things. I’m personally very excited about this new album and tour. Mutoid Man live is one of the most fun you’ll have a at a show. Pre-Orders for Mutants can be found HERE!

New Release: Mutoid Man- Call Of The Void

It’s finally here!!! New Mutoid Man!!! Today the band released the first single “Call Of The Void” from their upcoming new album, Mutants which will be out July 28, 2023 via Sargent House! This first single is a total ripper! This album also marks the first album with new bassist Jeff Matz from High On Fire joining Stephen Brodsky and Ben Koller. I’ve been a fan of this band for some time and each album is sublimely divine! The video for “Call Of The Void” was created by the fine folks over at Two Minutes To Late Night and it’s the perfect companion piece not just for this but in general as they have captured the humor that runs rampant throughout the members of the band. July 28 can’t come soon enough!

New Release: Royal Thunder- The Knife

This is exciting! Royal Thunder is back with one hell of a roar! After time away, Atlanta’s Royal Thunder have returned with their first new track since the release of 2017’s Wick. The trio of Mlny Parsonz (vocals, bass), Josh Weaver (guitar), and Evan Diprima (drums) have dropped a new single/video for their song “The Knife.” This song is stunning and a much welcome return. I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since we’ve had new music from Royal Thunder and I couldn’t be more stoked! “The Knife” is one hell of a song and I have to mention this, I’ve missed hearing Mlny Parsonz voice. It’s so real, rich, pure and honest. Wish more singers had this approach! Anyways, Royal Thunder’s new song “The Knife,” check it out!!!

And Just Because This Is SO DAMN GOOD… Here’s Mlny joined by the Two Minutes To Late Night Crew covering Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball.”:

Cover Song: 2 Minutes To Late Night (Bjork)- Hyperballad

Björk's "Hyperballad" Gets Metal Cover From Members Of Deftones, Killswitch Engage, Cave In, More: Watch

The great Two Minutes To Late Night is back with a new cover from their quarantine series. This one is really, really, really, damn good. Here you have a Bjork song “Hyperballad” covered by Stephen Brodsky (Cave In/Old Man Gloom/Mutoid Man) on vocals with Sergio Vega (Quicksand/Deftones) on bass, Adam D (Killswitch Engage/Times Of Grace) on guitar, Jordan “Gwarsenio Hall” Olds (host of 2MTLN) on guitar, Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe) on keys and Tanner Wayne (In Flames) on drums. It’s a great cover and Stephen Brodsky is absolutely amazing on this track. He’s really found a whole other voice which I hope carries over to all of his musical ventures.

Cover Song Collaboration: Coheed and Cambria, Mastodon, Primus, Tool, Mutoid Man (Rush)- Anthem

Two Minutes To Late Night Cover Rush

During this age of quarantine, there is a lot of free time on musicians hands.  Some are being very productive with writing new records and experimenting with new things. One of the things I’ve noticed is there is a huge flood of covers being done. A lot of them however are pretty meh and bland but, thankfully there is the people at Two Minutes To Late Night to save the day. Most recently, they conjured up a pretty impressive set of players to cover the Rush song “Anthem.” I’m not a big Rush fan but, this was too damn good not to share. Also if you haven’t seen the Rush documentary (I believe it’s still streaming on Netflix) you should check it out. It’s quite good. Anyways, this cover features Danny Carey of Tool on drums, Bill Kelliher of Mastodon on guitar, Les Claypool of Primus on bass, Stephen Brodsky of Cave In/Mutoid Man on guitar, Jordan Olds (aka Gwarsenio Hall) on guitar and Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria on vocals. What a killer job they did on this. Enjoy!

Cover Song: Stephen Brodsky & Marissa Nadler- (Guns N Roses)- Estranged

Cave In and Mutoid Man’s Stephen Brodsky is quite the busy guy. In addition to the two bands I just mentioned, he’s got a project with vocalist Marissa Nadler. Their collaborative album entitled Droneflower will be released April 26th via Sacred Bones Records. They have released a couple songs from the album. The first was an original song called “For The Sun,” which is quite a haunting introduction to the band. The second though is a cover of Guns N Roses’ “Estranged.” This is one of the best cover songs I’ve ever heard. “Estranged” happens to be my favorite GnR song of all time, so I was a tad skeptical before listening but, within seconds, I knew that this was amazing. Everything about this cover is perfect. It’s a totally different take on the GnR classic and it’s just beautiful.

There is a show on the internet called Two Minutes To Late Night. It’s quite funny and cool. Mutoid Man is the house band, which makes it even more awesome. Recently, the band Royal Thunder was a guest on the show and singer/bassist Mlny Parsonz (pronounced Melanie) did a rendition of Miley Cyrus’s song “Wrecking Ball.” This version is not only a million times better than Miley’s but it’s fucking awesome!

Check it out!
