NEW RELEASE: KILLED BY DEAF- A PUNK TRIBUTE TO MOTORHEAD

Motörhead! That’s the article! Just kidding! In celebration of the legendary Motörhead’s 50th anniversary in 2025, a new compilation/tribute album has been released featuring 14 punk rock greats to honor the loudest band on Earth with a new tribute album: Killed By Deaf: A Punk Tribute to Motörhead. Motörhead was always one of those bands that could crossover with the punk and metal crowds. So it’s quite fun to hear all these bands pay tribute to one of the bands that really started it all. Classic and newer punk bands like Rancid, Pennywise, The Bronx, Lagwagon, Fear, GBH, The Damned, and Slaughterhouse rightfully put their spin on these seminal tracks. Yes, there are classic songs like “Ace Of Spades” and “Born To Raise Hell” but, the really cool part of this record is the deeper cut song choices. I really have to say Rancid’s version of “Sex & Death” is absolutely superb. Lars Frederickson of Rancid is a giant Motörhead fan and it shows through in a great fashion! Closing out the record is a collaboration between Motörhead and The Damned on the song “Neat Neat Neat.” Take a few minutes and celebrate the awesomeness of Motörhead and dig into these tracks and discover something you might have missed along the way!

Track Listing:

1. Ace of Spades (Pennywise)

2. Sex & Death (Rancid)

3. Over the Top (The Bronx)

4. Rock ‘n’ Roll (Lagwagon)

5. The Chase Is Better Than The Catch (Fear)

6. Bomber (GBH)

7. Stay Clean (Murphy’s Law)

8. Love Me Like a Reptile (Slaughterhouse)

10. Born to Raise Hell (Anti-Nowhere League)

11. No Voices in the Sky (Love Canal)

Songs In Film: Motorhead- Ace Of Spades in Grosse Pointe Blank

MPW-116004.jpg

Grosse Pointe Blank is one of the best films of the past 25 years. It’s funny, heartfelt, violent and all around great. Plus the soundtrack to the film is superb. This movie is one of those that you can watch constantly just for fun. It’s also one of those that when it’s on, most people tend to watch it no matter how far in the movie already is. John Cusack is perfect as Martin Blank. I was recently watching the movie the other night and there was a scene I made a note of and had to present it here. Motorhead’s “Ace Of Spades” was featured in the movie in one of the coolest scenes. Check it out!

Classic Soundtracks: Airheads

JamieR__Airheads1.jpg

The other night, I couldn’t sleep and as I was flipping through the channels, I saw Airheads was just starting. It’s really fun to go back and watch movies you saw years ago, and see how much things have changed or haven’t. Airheads is still a fun movie, especially the scenes involving Lemmy. As I was watching, I realized how cool the soundtrack is. Featuring songs from Motorhead, White Zombie, Prong, Primus, Ramones and Anthrax, the soundtrack to Airheads is flush with 90’s rock and metal. And who can forget the name of the band… THE LONE RANGERS… “wait a minute, you can’t pluralize The Lone Ranger.”
