ALBUM REVIEW: REBA MEYERS- CLOUDED WORLD

When I first heard Reba Meyers was going to be releasing solo material, I got quite excited. After seeing her other band Code Orange a while back, I could tell there was more to Reba than just this band. There was a ferociousness that was just waiting to be unleashed. We already knew her guitar playing was top notch but the vocals took it all to another level and showed that Reba was the one in that band that had “the whole package.” Even when Reb guested on the Greg Puciato song “Lowered,” you could tell that Reba was well on her own path. And now here we are with Reba’s first release as a solo artist, Clouded World. This six song EP is full of dark, moody and melodic grooves and deeply personal and poetic lyrics and vocals.

There are many things to unpack on this release. As I mentioned the lyrics are very personal and poetic. The vocal delivery is otherworldly. You definitely hear and feel all the words sung. This is one of my favorite things about artists like Reba, the authenticity is 100% real. Musically, there are loads of influences and inspirations packed into these songs. On one hand you have some very heavy rock driven songs that have this attitude and bite to it with soaring melodies on top. Then you have more delicate atmospheric songs that explore a more etherial side with a bit of electronic elements to further open the space. All while still being poetic.

Clouded World has fast become one of my favorite releases of 2025. I eagerly await Reba’s full length debut which will be out in 2026. The tour kicks off today, and I’m very excited to see Reba live and hear these songs come to life when the Los Angeles date comes up on August 24th. Do yourself a favor and put this record on and let it take you places you haven’t been in a while!

SOLO SPOTLIGHT: REBA MEYERS

A few years back when I first heard the band Code Orange, the moment I heard Reba Meyers on the mic, I knew she was special. Not only could she play her guitar with the best of them, the way she brought those songs to life was something else. I remember even going to see Code Orange and walking away from that show thinking Reba was the best part of that band. Fast forward a bit to when Reba did guest vocals on the song “Lowered” off of Greg Puciato’s second solo album, Mirrorcell. That again was a sign that Reba was the real deal and I looked forward to what was to come next. Well recently there have been three singles released from Reba’s upcoming solo debut. The songs released “Certain Uncertainty,” “Get Your Hold On Me” and “Clouded World” have this really great atmospheric and alternative/indie vibe with a bit of psychedelia making for a really interesting listening experience. These songs also showcase what a great vocalist and lyricist Reba is. I personally can’t wait to hear more from Reba when her debut solo album is released later this year. In the meantime, you can see Reba killing it on stage as part of Marilyn Manson’s touring band.

Classic Soundtracks: Dee Snider’s Strangeland

Back in 1998 Twisted Sister frontman, Dee Snider’s horror film Strangeland was released. I don’t remember much about the movie but, I do remember the soundtrack quite well. The soundtrack features songs from Sevendust, Megadeth, Pantera, Anthrax, Coal Chamber, Marilyn Manson, Soulfly, System Of A Down and Snot! That’s quite a banging collection of bands and songs. The song that I will always remember most from this soundtrack is “Absent” by Snot. This would be the last recorded song by the band before singer Lynn Strait’s tragic car accident. There is a different version of “Absent” found on the Strait Up tribute album. This soundtrack is one of those that came out at a time when soundtracks still meant something. If you haven’t heard this soundtrack before, it’s definitely worth your time!

Cover Song: Marilyn Manson- I Put A Spell On You

Last night, I was thinking of movies I haven’t seen in a long while and Lost Highway popped in my head. From that point, I had a couple songs stuck in my head. One was Nine Inch Nails “The Perfect Drug” and the other was the cover that Marilyn Manson did of “I Put A Spell On You.” This track was originally featured on the Smells Like Children EP. The original version of the song was done by Screamin Jay Hawkins but, is most famously done by Creedence Clearwater Revival (and that’s the one I associate it with most). This is definitely an interesting take on the song and fits perfectly on Lost Highway. Enjoy!

Marilyn Manson – 'We Are Chaos' review

Ever since Marilyn Manson’s new album We Are Chaos was released, I’ve been on a sort of Manson kick. His new album is really quite good (but that’s for another day and I will have a full review up about it soon). After spending some time listening back to albums, I didn’t give much of a chance, I thought it would be fun to look up other things he’s done and I remembered a few of his moments from the shows and movies he’s appeared in. So let’s take a look at those for fun.

On Sons Of Anarchy (not posting much, as to not give things away):

Marilyn Manson Isn't Shocking Anymore, but 'We Are Chaos' Proves His Staying Power

Marilyn Manson has released a new single ahead of his new album We Are Chaos (out Friday September 11). This new song “Don’t Chase The Dead” continues down his very Bowie influenced sound. It’s got a Mechanical Animals vibe mixed with a bit of the Eat Me Drink Me/The High End Of Low era. It’s definitely a lot better than the first single, “We Are Chaos.” It will be interesting to hear the whole album and what the end result turns out to be.

New Release: Marilyn Manson- We Are Chaos

Marilyn Manson-We Are Chaos ( Official Audio ) Leaked / Unreleased ...

Marilyn Manson is back with a new album entitled We Are Chaos (out September 11). The first song released is the title track. This album was produced by Manson’s longtime friend Shooter Jennings. Based on this one song at the moment, I don’t know what to think about this one. There is definitely a Bowie influence and presence in this track. When Manson released The Pale Emperor a few years back, there seemed to be a resurgence and return to what most of us liked. This new song (granted it’s just one song at the moment) doesn’t have the same feel of urgency like The Pale Emperor did or any of the early albums. There is a bit of a Bowie vibe to this song that makes it interesting but, there is something off about it. I can’t quite place it yet. That being said though, I’m sure some of you out there will quite enjoy this.
