Alternate Versions: Emma Ruth Rundle- Razor’s Edge (Live)

Emma Ruth Rundle has long been a favorite of mine. I’ll never forget the first time I heard that voice and the chills I got from what she was singing. From her time in Red Sparrows and Marriages, the collaboration with Thou and then to her solo work, there is no stopping this talent. I do remember when it all came to make sense to me and that was around the time of her album, On Dark Horses which features one of my all time favorite Emma songs (as well as my daughter’s) “Darkhorse.” Hearing that album and song was what did it for me. Fast forward to now and Emma is readying a new live release from the Roadburn Festival where she performed songs from her latest and breathtaking new album, Engine Of Hell. The first song being shared from the release (which is out on July 7th) is the ever cutting (pun totally intended), “Razor’s Edge.” This version of the song will give you chills in the best way possible along with all the feels in the right places. Speaking of the album, Rundle says; “Roadburn has been such an important place for me and my evolution as an artist. The opportunity to perform ‘Engine of Hell’ in full there in 2022 was the end of something… and the beginning of this whole new chapter in my life and art. I really do feel free in so many ways. I wanted to commemorate and honor the experience by making my ‘Live at Roadburn’ album my first self release in 13 years.  I will always treasure the Roadburn community” This release is definitely one of those that makes the songs come to life even more and it hits a bit differently as the raw factor is very prevalent throughout.

New Release: Emma Ruth Rundle- Blooms Of Oblivion

I can’t wait for the new Emma Ruth Rundle album, Engine Of Hell. I can already tell it’s unapologetically personal and honest. The way Emma’s voice shares her vulnerability as well as fragility is deeply moving. When you listen to the new songs from Engine Of Hell, there is a sense of urgency but also a vibrancy that allows the truth of her words to shine. If you aren’t familiar with Emma Ruth Rundle, you need to wake up from the rock you are living under and experience what she brings to the table.

Anticipated Albums: Emma Ruth Rundle- Engine Of Hell

Emma Ruth Rundle is an absolute revelation. For quite some time now, I’ve been absolutely enthralled with her and the music. Her album, On Dark Horses is a true masterpiece without a doubt. So much so, even my daughter loves that album and knows the majority of the lyrics. And now, a new album is upon us. On November 5, 2021 (via Sargent House), Emma Ruth Rundle unleashes, Engine Of Hell. The first single “Return” is deeply haunting and reflective. The beauty of the song and how it’s so vulnerable really strikes a chord. Engine Of Hell is a new chapter for Emma and it truly shows.

Collaborations: Thrice & Emma Ruth Rundle- Just Breathe

Album Reviews - Thrice - Palms | Punk Rock Theory

On Thrice’s 2018 album Palms, there is a song called “Just Breathe” that is an absolute stand out. The first time I heard the song, I was hooked. It’s a very Thrice song and then with the addition of guest vocals by Emma Ruth Rundle, it takes it to a whole other level. Her delicate vocals add a very soothing vibe and gives you the good kind of chills. One day, when live music is able to happen again, it would be a dream to get to see Emma join Thrice on stage to perform this song. It would be EPIC!!

Since the whole pandemic began, I’ve been going back to albums I haven’t really delved deep into. One of those albums is Emma Ruth Rundle’s fantastic 2018 album, On Dark Horses. While listening and getting more and more engrained into the album. I developed a keen fascination with the song “Darkhorse.” This song is hauntingly beautiful and poetic. Every time I go back to this album, I’m compelled to listen to this song at least 5 times. It’s a very powerful and hypnotic song. One of those that will have you coming back more and more. The entire album, On Dark Horses is one of those albums that needs to heard and talked about. I could go on and on about it but it’s much better if you just listen for yourself.

New Release: Chelsea Wolfe & Emma Ruth Rundle- Anhedonia

So, 2021 is musically starting off in a very awesome way. Today, Chelsea Wolfe released a new song entitled “Anhedonia” with a very awesome guest on it, Emma Ruth Rundle. This song is soaking with all the right amount of moodiness you enjoy from both singers and their music. Having both Chelsea and Emma on a track together is a dream collaboration. When you hear their voices together, it’s totally meant to be. Now, we just need touring to happen again so they can go on the road together and perform this song!
