AUDIOECLECTICA INTERVIEWS: HEAVY HALO

A couple weeks ago I got the chance to talk with the band Heavy Halo. Their album, Damaged Dream, came out earlier in 2025 and has not left my rotation. I’ve been really intrigued by this band. Their mix of industrial/electronic music along with 90’s alternative is infectious and gets your blood pumping. Heavy Halo will be on tour next year with My Life With The Thrill Kill Cult. Definitely go check them out!

And now, enjoy this conversation with Heavy Halo!

ALBUM OF THE WEEK: HEAVY HALO- DAMAGED DREAM

I love that feeling of putting an album on without any pre conceived thoughts and getting absolutely swept away by it. That’s exactly what happened the instant the first beat hit on Heavy Halo’s new album Damaged Dream. The moment I put this album on I was hooked. I’m not sure what I was looking for at the moment but, I knew this album was for me. Since I got this album, it has been in non stop rotation for me. Actually I’ve been aching to write about this album and share it with you all.

Heavy Halo’s sound is packed with so many things that I love like industrial, alternative rock, electronic elements and a nice splashing of gothic expression. Imagine if Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure and early New Order (Movement era) all combined forces to create music, that combination is what you get on Damaged Dream. Throughout the ten songs on this album you get lost in the ambience, pulsating beats, driving guitars and great soaring melodies that add the light to a dark setting. There are hooks aplenty found throughout Damaged Dream and they are more like ear candy. Lyrically this is a deeply reflective album that hits you in all the feels in a great way. It’s a more uplifting feeling than what most bands would tend to do.

The way this album flows from start to finish is like blood flowing. It’s quite the rush. There isn’t one song on here that feels out of place. Each track is drenched with this feeling that makes you want to get up and move. Not necessarily in a “dancing way” but, more so in a way that gets you revved up for taking on a day and conquering it. I’d love to pinpoint certain songs but, it’s better if you just listen to this album from start to finish. It’s one of those albums! I really love this album. So much so that it’s definitely in my top 5 of 2025! Do yourself a favor and take some time and let Heavy Halo rock your world!

ANTICIPATED ALBUMS: HEAVY HALO- DAMAGED DREAM

A little while back I brought up a band called Heavy Halo and I’ve been totally enthralled by them. Their distinctive sound that mixes electronic, industrial, alternative and a bit of goth makes for one hell of an enjoyable listen. Imagine if Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, and a dash of (early) New Order, put that all together and you get Heavy Halo. Their album Damaged Dream comes out on July 25 and it’s definitely one of the most anticipated albums for the rest of 2025 for me. There are so many different things to unpack when listening to this band and their album. One of the things that I love most is the use of melody throughout which brings a different light to the genre. The hooks found in the songs as well, drive home that there is more in these songs than just beats. Lyrically too, its a deeply reflective album that resonates in many different ways. July 25 can’t come soon enough so the rest of you can hear this album! Really stoked on what’s to come from this band and I still have hope that there will be a Los Angeles show in the near future because I need to see this live!

ON THE RISE: HEAVY HALO

One of my favorite things about running Audioeclectica is getting to hear all sorts of bands and artists. When new music arrives in my inbox I get pretty excited to check out what’s in there. One of the bands I recently came across that has peaked my interest is a band called Heavy Halo who hail from NYC. Heavy Halo is a very interesting and compelling band as their sound is inspired by Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins and The Cure. When listening to the band you can pick up on the subtleties of those bands but it doesn’t sound derivative. Instead there are distinct sounds of the dark new romantic era mixed with a cinematic element that feels like you are inside a score of a film. Their latest single “New Blood” from their upcoming album, Damaged Dream (out July 25th via Silent Pendulum Records) is quite the trip of a song. The accompanying video definitely plays on the cinematic element that I talked about. I’m really excited to hear more from Heavy Halo and hopefully a Los Angeles show is in the cards soon so I can see this all live! So check out Heavy Halo and see why they are on the rise!

Band Of The Week: So Hideous

Mixing genres to create something interesting is always a gamble. If you put the wrong combinations together the end result can put you on the wrong path. One band that I’ve recently been intrigued by that mixes genres is So Hideous. Mixing post-rock, atmospheric black metal, and a bit of an orchestral film score type vibe, So Hideous have put together a recipe for something that will hit you on impact. The bands new album, None But a Pure Heart Can Sing is a new and astonishing piece of work from this adventurous band. Still raging as hard as ever, still expressing the extremes of torment and beauty, None But a Pure Heart Can Sing sees So Hideous incorporate new sounds and rhythms into its approach. When discussing the thematic elements of the record Brandon Cruz said “The record is about rediscovering the freedom to share your passion, whether it be your art or your own voice, without any angst, anger or second thoughts. We talked a lot about the times we used to get into a room to play when we were 16 or whatever and the only barometer was if it ‘felt right and sounded good.’ When you see little kids they just extemporaneously break out into song and dance. They don’t care who’s watching. I had this idea of someone in some form of captivity, yearning to be free and sing her song.” Based on that, I couldn’t agree more. This record is pretty damn good!
