Album Of The Week: Filth Is Eternal- Find Out

What you find out in about 30 minutes and 14 songs is that Filth Is Eternal is on a warpath! The way this album hits right out of the gate is quite the punch to the head. Filth Is Eternal is a band that pulls from a handful of genres like hardcore, grunge, punk, crust punk, and noise rock to create a style and sound that is brash and in your face while still carrying a sense of melody. Throughout Find Out, there’s all sorts of little nuances to pick up on with each listen. It’s quite fun to find all the ear candy in this album.

There’s a depth to the songs on a musical and lyrical level that most bands in their “spectrum” lack. The myriad of subjects tackled on Find Out is quite intriguing. The way the album flows weaves an intricate web of heaviness, aggression, and catchiness that is infectious. One of the thingsI love about Find Out is that when you listen it makes you want to move. The rhythms of drummer Emily Salisbury and bassist Rah Davis and riffs of Brian McClelland give you the step to get going and then when you add Lis Di Angelo’s vocals to it you get the bounce to really get in the groove. Another great aspect about Find Out is that it really feels like an “album.” What they are able to accomplish in 14 songs and 30 minutes is pure and concise and I can’t get enough of it. Each song brings it’s own charm to the table and that’s part of what makes this album standout. I will say this, The first half will grab you and then the latter half of the album is particularly a sweet spot!

Find Out was produced by Paul Fig who has worked with Jerry Cantrell, Alice In Chains, etc but, is also remembered by me most of all as being a member of Amen! Filth Is Eternal is a band that should be on your radar. Not only do they have the chops with their songs but, their live show is one hell of a beast on its own. Filth Is Eternal is not only one of my favorite new bands but, they are also super rad people. Do yourself a favor and soak in this Filth!

Filth Is Eternal are one of my favorite bands that I’ve had the pleasure to write about. They are a powerhouse band that is raw and unapologetic through and through. Their new single “Crawl Space” from their upcoming album, Find Out (out 9.29.23 via MNRK HEAVY) is an anthemic track that hits you in all sorts of ways with interesting melodies and pummeling riffs and rhythms all in a matter of a minute and a half. Filth Is Eternal are quite the force of nature. Their immediacy/urgency in their music is impactful right from the start. And live, this band is on a whole other level of ferociousness. Take a moment and dig into what Filth Is Eternal is cooking and soon, you’ll Find Out what else they have in store for you!

Band Of The Week: Haunted Horses

Since I started Audioeclectica, I’ve noticed that certain cities have a wealth of music bursting at the seams to be heard. Seattle has long been a city with a plethora of music waiting to be heard. Which brings me to the band of the week, Haunted Horses. I’ve heard about this band for a bit now and they are quite a band. Haunted Horses is an industrial punk duo/trio from Seattle made up of Colin Dawson and Myke Pelly. Their sound is this mix of chaotic noise and rhythms paired with an onslaught of distorted keys, guitars, bass and thundering drums. The band’s music stretches between post-punk, noise core, industrial and even a bit of a gothic/new wave sound. Most recently Haunted Horses recruited long time friend Brian McClelland of Filth Is Eternal and He Whose Ox Is Gore to add another layer of dynamic heaviness to the already captivating live show and sound. The time for a band like Haunted Horses is now. The element of danger that comes with their live show is much needed in a very sterile time we live in. Plus having music that gives you the push/pull of tension to truly bring you in, makes Haunted Horses a band to definitely watch out for. On July 29, 2022 via Three One G Records, Haunted Horses album, The Worst Has Finally Happened will be out! Check out the first single “Cold Medicine” NOW!!!

New Release: Filth Is Eternal- The Ritual

May be a black-and-white image of one or more people

The mighty Filth Is Eternal have released, “The Ritual,” another blistering new song from their upcoming album, Love Is A Lie, Filth Is Eternal (out NOW). Speaking on the song, guitarist Brian McClelland said “‘The Ritual’ is a stomping cut about canonizing our own destruction. Sometimes we do it ourselves, and sometimes others help us out. After watching tech companies flatten our Seattle neighborhoods, pushing people out for years, how can you not take it personally? The Ritual pits the internal and external forces against each other and ponders a final result, to find water flowing underground.” And with that in mind, the ferociousness is absolutely delivered on this track! Personally, I can’t wait for Filth Is Eternal to announce a full tour. This band is one of those that you should be paying attention to!!

Band Of The Week: Fucked and Bound

When I first heard that members of He Whose Ox Is Gored were involved in a side project my curiosity was perked. Then when I heard that it was going to be a hardcore/punk band, I was ecstatic. Fucked and Bound is the name of the band and it delivers a righteous slab of unrelenting and ferocious hardcore. Their debut album Suffrage (released by Atomic Action Records) is 13 songs of pure heaviness, attitude, and anger. Fronted by Lisa Mungo, she screams her heart out and it’s furious and in your face. Her conviction of the lyrics as she spits them out in the mic are some of the most honest I’ve heard in a long time. The band themselves comprised of Brian McClelland (Guitar), Curtis Parker (Bass) and Matt Chandler (Drums) blast through riffs and beats that pummel and run you over with the right amount of brutality. Fucked and Bound is just what is needed in today’s political and social climate. Do yourselves a favor and throw this album on and unleash the inner beast inside you.

Band Of The Week (updated)- He Whose Ox Is Gored

15823714_1329433170410989_4025386276280808496_n.jpg

There are a handful of bands that I’ve written about here that really get me excited. One of those bands is He Whose Ox Is Gored. Ever since I first heard them, I’ve become enthralled by what they do. This four piece from Seattle is starting to really take the underground music scene by storm. Their mix of doom, shoegaze, and ambience are perfectly blended into their heavy and emotional sound. Their full length album The Camel, The Lion, The Child is still in constant rotation on my stereo and turntable. One thing that I really love about He Whose Ox Is Gored is the way the sparse vocals resonate through their songs. The lyrics and vocals add another dimension to their hypnotic sound. It’s almost as though the vocals invoke a whole different beast.

He Whose Ox Is Gored is the type of band that can transcend just being another heavy band. They have all the parts to make them not only stand out among their peers but, also the talent to really leave their own mark and inspire other bands. Do yourself a favor and buy their album and play it loud and proudly. You’ll thank me later for it.
