New Release: Korn- Start The Healing

Korn announce new album 'Requiem' with the single 'Start The Healing'

Korn have unveiled their brand new track “Start The Healing” along with an official music video for it directed by Tim Saccenti. It’s the first single to be launched from the band’s fourteenth studio album “Requiem“, which will receive a February 04th release date through a new partnership the band have struck with Loma Vista Recordings. The band recorded the new album during the height of the pandemic. Created without pressure of due dates or anything, a new creative process energized the band. The additional time allowed the band to experiment together and diligently recording to analog tape — processes which unearthed newfound sonic dimension and texture in their music. The new album was produced by Chris Collier and Korn.

Requiem track listing:

01. Forgotten
02. Let The Dark Do The Rest
03. Start The Healing
04. Lost In The Grandeur
05. Disconnect
06. Hopeless And Beaten
07. Penance To Sorrow
08. My Confession
09. Worst Is On Its Way

New Release: The Halo Effect- Shadowminds

THE HALO EFFECT: Band Feat. Gothenburg Icons Release First Ever Single & Music Video 'Shadowminds' | Metal Shock Finland (World Assault )

This is exciting. The Halo Effect is a new band featuring 4 former members of In Flames and 1 member of Dark Tranquility. This is quite the collection of members. Having 4 members of In Flames alone makes this very intriguing. Ever since these members left In Flames that band has gone downhill. So it’s very refreshing to have them come back together and form a new band. Their debut album will arrive in 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records and their first tour is opening for Machine Head and Amon Amarth. The first song they’ve released “Shadowminds” is a solid premiere. It’s got the melodic tinge that they’ve been known for in their previous band but this stands on its own. Speaking on this song the band has said “We are incredibly excited to unveil this new band with one of the first songs that we wrote together. We felt strongly that this was the right direction for the band. Finding identity, finding a drive and passion is what the song is about and also what this band is about. What drove us to do this in the first place, what obstacles have we overcome in order to fully commit to this lifestyle? It’s about how easy it is to get lost if you lose focus and passion for what you do. With the video we wanted to convey the emptiness of the city in the early stages of the pandemic and what we saw outside of the studio as we were writing but we also love the cool dystopic imagery so we made the city look even more barren and destroyed.” So with out further delay, check out The Halo Effect!

New Release: Sound & Shape- Sugar The Pill

Picture

A few months back, I introduced you to the Nashville based Sound & Shape. Their mix of heaviness, soul and melody really strikes a chord when you listen. Now, Sound & Shape have released a new track and video “Sugar The Pill” off their upcoming album, Disaster Medicine (out in 2022). This song is a great representation of the style and sound of their new album. Their sound has now expanded past the core instrumentation of guitar, bass and drums with the introduction of synths and even more backing vocals. Sound & Shape are on the right path with this new sound!

New Release: Centershift- My Own World (Live)

If you aren’t familiar with Centershift yet, you should really get on that! They’ve already released their first song “9” a couple months ago and now they have sort of leaked another song. This new track “My Own World” is one of my favorite Centershift songs. Having been to the first couple Centershift shows, this song is fast becoming a fan favorite. Every time I hear this song, I feel compelled to want to hear it again. It’s a rocking song with soaring melodies and a chorus that is sure to ignite many sing alongs.

New Release: Converge (Blood Moon)- Coil

As they prepare for the release of their collaborative new album— featuring Chelsea Wolfe, Ben Chisholm and Stephen Brodsky, Converge have unveiled the second single from Bloodmoon: I, “Coil.” Speaking on the song, Jacob Bannon comments, “’Coil’ turned out to be one of my favorite songs I’ve ever been a part of. There is an infectious slow build that ends up becoming theatrical in tone. Lyrically it was a true collaboration, with all of us expanding on each other’s ideas as they came to be. I believe Chelsea’s vocal was the starting point in that for this one. Kurt really pushed vocal harmonies to a new level as well. Encouraging many of Steve’s ideas while we were in the studio tracking together. This one really has everyone of us firing on all cylinders creatively.” When you hear this song, you’ll get it. It’s such a tremendous track. I personally can’t wait for this album. Ever since they performed at Roadburn I’ve been waiting for this to finally come to fruition. Bloodmoon: I, out November 19th on CD/Digital and on Vinyl June 24th.

New Release: Mastodon- Sickle and Peace

Mastodon Announce New Album Hushed and Grim, Share New Song: Listen | Pitchfork

Since the turn of the century when they formed, Mastodon have been one of the best bands to come out. Their evolution as a band is one that is astounding. Had they come out in a different era, they’d probably be one of the biggest bands. Now in 2021, the guys in Mastodon are gearing up to release their ninth studio album, Hushed and Grim. They’ve already released a couple tracks ahead of its release and now they have dropped one of their most jazzy tracks ever with “Sickle and Peace.” There’s a psychedelic doomy jazz sense to this song. It’s one of those songs that in the context of the album will make more sense especially since Mastodon is one of those bands that make “albums.” I’d love to hear this song live at some point during an upcoming tour as I feel like this is going to be one hell of an epic track live.

New Release: KLAE

For the past couple months I’ve been writing about KLAE and his upcoming album Stomp Out Hate, Love, Repeat.  KLAE is a very diverse musician that excels in drums and percussion. His ability to shift his styles to compliment different genres makes him quite exceptional. With over 20 years of experience be it playing, writing, recording and more, it’s the dedication that shows through in his music. KLAE said “In the last few years I’ve learned that everything has a wide spectrum of perspective. We can choose to see the rainbow of colors that surrounds us or we can choose to ignore it. We have to make the choice within ourselves everyday to stop the hate and set a better example.” Armed with that mindset and a plethora of rhythms, KLAE is working to enact change with each beat. In today’s society, having music and artists like this shows the care and concern that is missing.

New Release: Emma Ruth Rundle- Blooms Of Oblivion

I can’t wait for the new Emma Ruth Rundle album, Engine Of Hell. I can already tell it’s unapologetically personal and honest. The way Emma’s voice shares her vulnerability as well as fragility is deeply moving. When you listen to the new songs from Engine Of Hell, there is a sense of urgency but also a vibrancy that allows the truth of her words to shine. If you aren’t familiar with Emma Ruth Rundle, you need to wake up from the rock you are living under and experience what she brings to the table.
