B-Sides: Audioslave

The other day I woke up with the Audioslave song “Moth” in my head. That song is from their highly underrated third album, Revelations. If you haven’t ever delved into that one, I suggest you do, it’s incredible! While on my little Audioslave kick, I remembered that there are a few songs that were “B-Sides” and I thought I’d share those with you. So here we go!

Audioslave- Give (from their debut):

Audioslave- Super Stupid (Funkadelic Cover from Out Of Exile):

Turn To Gold (Quick Story:  Audioslave was originally called “Civilian.” After they got together and starting recording, a sound technician leaked this song on the internet):

B-Sides: Slipknot

Last week Slipknot released a new song from their upcoming new album, which is due out in 2019. Naturally, I went on a kick of listening to them for a few days. While having my own personal listening party, I started to think about all the b-sides they have from their albums. Well now, here they are.

B-Sides: Mastodon

Since the turn of the century, there is a band that I truly feel is the band of the 2000’s. That band is Mastodon. From the moment their album Remission was released all the way till their newest, Emperor Of Sand, Mastodon, has been the most consistent and best band of this new era. On each album they’ve been able to push themselves creatively and have made timeless and classic albums. Mastodon, doesn’t have many b-sides, though I’m sure their vault is full of great songs they didn’t use. Here are a few tracks that didn’t make their albums.

Deathbound (from The Hunter):

The Ruiner (from The Hunter):

White Walker (from Game Of Thrones Soundtrack:

Cold Dark Place EP (North Side Star, Blue Walsh, Cold Dark Place were recorded for Once More Round The Sun. Toe To Toes was recorded during Emperor Of Sand):

B-Sides: Foo Fighters

foo-fighters-logoOver the course of the Foo Fighters career and nine albums, they have accumulated quite a few B-sides. Some of these songs are quite awesome and others you can hear why they were left off the records. None the less, you should check out these tracks. You might find some that you really dig.

B Sides: Nine Inch Nails

03 - Nine Inch Nails

It’s really interesting to think about all the B-sides a band has. A lot of the time the songs that didn’t make the album are actually really good but just didn’t fit in the scheme of things. The other day while in the car with my wife, the Nine Inch Nails song “Non- Entity” came on and it got me thinking about all the songs that Trent has written over the years that didn’t get put on albums or even released. So naturally I went on a binge of listening to all the B-sides, covers and unreleased tracks by Nine Inch Nails that I could. Here are a bunch of my favorites.

B-Sides: Stone Temple Pilots

I woke up this morning with Stone Temple Pilots in my head. Specifically the song “Atlanta.” So naturally I did what I always do and put that song on and then just let Number 4 start from the beginning. While listening to STP it got me thinking about their B-sides. Check out their B-sides over the years and songs that were previously unreleased.

Only Dying (from Core- Originally intended to be on The Crow Soundtrack):

All In The Suit That You Wear (from Thank You- Originally intended for the Spiderman Soundtrack):

About A Fool:

You Can’t Drive Me Away:

Learning To Drive:

Heed The Water Whispers:

Samba Nova:

Great B-Sides: Pantera

I’ve been in a Pantera mood the last couple days. I’ve mainly been listening to The Great Southern Trendkill (as it’s my favorite album of theirs). While I was going through all their albums I forgot about a few b-sides and covers that they did throughout their career. So here they are. The few b-sides they have and covers. Enjoy!

Great B Sides- Thrice

Thrice are one of the most influential bands in the post hardcore genre. For almost 20 years, the guys in Thrice have done it their way and left their mark. The 9 albums they have released are all unique in their own way and full of many memorable songs. Looking back at their catalog, they don’t seem to have too many songs left over as b sides, but the ones they do have are quite awesome all on their own. Check these out!

Eclipse:

Lullaby:

That Hideous Strength (Live):

Flags Of Dawn:

Weight Of Glory:

Answered:

Red Telephone:

Sea Change:

B-Sides: Alice In Chains

Alice In Chains wasn’t the type of band that had many b-sides from their albums. The box set that came out, Music Box, was filled with two new songs, all the songs you know and love and demo versions of a lot of their songs (some of which were never properly recorded). On it as well were a few songs that were left over from the Facelift and Dirt era. The following are those songs that were written and recorded at that time.

Alice In Chains- Killing Yourself:

Alice In Chains- Lying Season:

Alice In Chains- Fear The Voices:

Alice In Chains- Social Parasite:

Alice In Chains- Whatcha Gonna Do:

Great B Sides: Linkin Park- QWERTY

When bands record albums they have a tendency to record more songs that don’t show up on their albums. This new topic highlights those songs (B-sides), that the band didn’t put on their albums.

First up is the song “QWERTY” by Linkin Park. I was never really a fan of the band but, I remember hearing this song over ten years ago and thought “Why didn’t they put this on an album?” Instead they switched gears and released the mediocre Minutes To Midnight. Though never officially released, Linkin Park did put this song out on one of their fan club CD’s. So here is “QWERTY” for you all to enjoy.
