Cover Thursday: Living Colour with Lajon of Sevendust- Cult Of Personality

This isn’t necessarily a cover but it’s awesome. So many people for years have been trying to get Sevendust to cover this song, and recently while on the Shiprocked cruise, Sevendust and Living Color happened to be booked on it and it finally happened! Here it is!

Cover Thursday: Queens Of The Stone Age (Billy Idol)- White Wedding

When Queens Of The Stone Age released their very great album Era Vulgaris, they also recorded a cover of the Billy Idol classic “White Wedding.” In true Queens fashion they added a bit of a stripped down flair to it. It’s definitely an interesting take on Billy’s version (which is the better version).

Cover Thursday: Stone Temple Pilots (The Doors)- Break On Through [To The Other Side]

The Doors are huge part of my musical upbringing. Whenever I come across a band covering them, I am always compelled to check it out. Most of the time though it sucks. Though any time Scott Weiland puts his vocals on top of a Doors song, it sounds wonderful. Which brings me to this version of Break On Through. It’s got a different arrangement that helps make it a little more STP, while still keeping it classic Doors.

Cover Comparison: Cave In & Year Of The Rabbit (The Cure)- Plainsong

For some reason I’ve been in the mood to listen to The Cure a lot as of late. Which got me thinking about all the covers of Cure songs out there. So why not see what version of “Plainsong” you all think is best.

Worst Cover Songs: Papa Roach (Aerosmith)- Sweet Emotion

Recently while watching Dazed & Confused for the umpteenth hundreth time, and I had a flashback to the early 2000’s when MTV did one of their “Icon” shows dedicated to Aerosmith. During that broadcast one of the worst renditions of a great song was performed by Papa Roach. Their version of “Sweet Emotion” will forever be put next to Celine Dion’s  version of ACDC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long.”
