There is a really distinct sound about the way David Gilmour plays guitar. The way he picks the right tones and chords is truly astounding. He is beyond a master at his craft and this song is a perfect example of that. The solo for “Comfortably Numb” is one that you could seriously put on repeat and go for a long drive and just let it take over. It’s soothing yet impactful and full of beautiful melody. David Gilmour truly outdid himself on this one.

The other day I was hanging out with a friend and I presented him with a question, who are the best UK bands of all time. So, we sat there for a few minutes and created a list that pretty much sums up the best bands from the region. Cover Song: The Atlas Moth (Pink Floyd)- Fearless

So as you can tell I’m still really digging on The Atlas Moth. Since I saw them live a couple weeks back, I’ve been searching for all things related to the band. I recently stumbled upon this cover they did of Pink Floyd’s “Fearless” and I have to say it’s pretty damn good. Check it out and enjoy what The Atlas Moth brings to this Pink Floyd gem.

Cover Comparison: Avenged Sevenfold vs Limp Bizkit (Pink Floyd)- Wish You Were Here

I really don’t understand why this keeps happening. There seems to be a trend nowadays of taking a classic song and then a very unoriginal/uninspiring takes said song and absolutely ruins it. Recently, Avenged Sevenfold released a cover of the classic and very profound “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd. I don’t even need to say anymore but, I have to say that this is probably one of the worst covers I’ve ever heard. Their version reminded be that Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit and Johnny Reznick from the Goo Goo Dolls did a really bad version of this song too.

So which one is worse?

Song Battle: Danzig vs Pink Floyd- Mother

This is going to be quite the interesting and fun Same Name Song Battle. In this new battle, I put the song “Mother” up for question. On one hand you have Danzig’s very classic song from his debut solo album. And the other you have Pink Floyd’s song from their seminal and very influential The Wall.

Cover Thursday: Pearl Jam (Pink Floyd)- Comfortably Numb

Pink Floyd isn’t an easy band to cover. I’ve heard a lot of bands try to cover them and fall short. Pearl Jam absolutely nailed it. Eddie Vedder kills it vocally, Mike McCready slays the guitar solo. He’s so damn good!!! This cover is done so well.

Cover Thursday: Shadows Fall (Pink Floyd)- Welcome To The Machine

Pink Floyd is very hard to cover. Korn tried and failed miserably, but then again it is Korn. In 2003, when Shadows Fall released their great album The Art Of Balance, I was incredibly surprised to hear them cover “Welcome To The Machine” at the end of the album. It’s another cover that I’m torn on. I love the original, and this version is good but I’m sure something is missing from it.

Cover Thursday: Class of 99 (Pink Floyd)- Another Brick In The Wall

I have a deep affinity for Layne Staley. He can make anything sound amazing. When this song was released in 1999 on The Faculty soundtrack I was blown away. Class of 99 was a short term supergroup consisting of Layne Staley (vocals), Tom Morello (guitar), Stephen Perkins (drums), Martyn LeNoble (bass) and Matt Serletic (keyboards). One can only imagine what an entire album would’ve sounded like had they made one.
