As you all probably could tell, I’m on a huge Dillinger Escape plan kick right now. So now, I’m presenting you all two versions of The Dillinger Escape Plan joining Nine Inch Nails on stage to perform “WISH.” The first is from a 2008 performance in Australia and the second is from 2009 when Nine Inch Nails played the Wiltern during their Wave Goodbye tour (which I was at, and seeing this live was brutal). Each version is chaotic, energetic and awesome. I can honestly say that of all the bands I’ve ever heard cover Wish, Dillinger is the only one to ever nail it. So enjoy what you are about to see and hear!

“Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” is on my top 5 list of favorite Led Zeppelin songs. This song is so delicate and beautiful and hits hard when the build comes in. That part is one of my all time favorite parts of any song ever. Recently one of my favorite newer bands of the past couple years The Last Internationale covered this song. The vocal performance from singer Delila Paz is tremendous. It’s subtle yet full of emotion, soul and grit. This is one of those covers that should be on many people’s lists of great covers.

Cover Comparison: Motley Crue/Megadeth (Sex Pistols)- Anarchy In The U.K.

The Sex Pistols are one of my top 15 favorite bands ever. They were the band that got me into punk when I was 8 years old. I present to you two different covers of one of their quintessential songs “Anarchy In The U.K.” I find it fitting to do a cover comparison of this song considering what is going on in the U.K. at the moment. Who do you think did it best?

Cover Thursday: Hotwire (Rolling Stones)- Let’s Spend The Night Together

I’ve mentioned before that there are certain bands that were really good but didn’t get the due and push they needed. Hotwire is one of those bands for sure. On their Japanese release of their debut album The Routine, they included a cover of The Rolling Stones “Let’s Spend The Night Together.” While this isn’t the best cover, it’s a fun version that is very fitting as a good fun summer time song.

Worst Cover Songs: Linkin Park (Nine Inch Nails)- Wish

Wow, this is awful. Nine Inch Nails is my all time favorite band, and this version is just plain awful. Though I don’t know what’s worse, Linkin Park covering this song, or the comments people left saying that this is better than the original. Also they can’t even play it right. It’s atrocious people!!!

Cover Tuesday: Head Wound City (Ministry)- Just One Fix

If you aren’t familiar with Head Wound City, they are made up of members of The Blood Brothers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Locust. In May they will release a new album called A New Wave Of Violence. These gents just released a single which included a cover of Ministry’s “Just One Fix.” It’s a really great cover, and captures the craziness of the original, all the while making it their own.
