I woke up with the Only Living Witness song “December” in my head. While I was looking up different versions, I came across this rad cover Shadows Fall did of the song. Check it out!

I’m sure most of you are like me and get all giddy when you hear a band you really like do a cover of another band you like and that cover is really good. During their recent tour with Pop Evil, Black Map has been doing pre-show meet and greets and mini acoustic sets. At their show at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, Black Map’s Ben Flanagan (bass/vocals) and Mark Engles (guitar/vocals), pulled out a surprise cover of Failure’s “Stuck On You” and it turned out great. Check it Out.

In case you didn’t know, Neil Young is one of my all time favorites. I have both my mom and dad to thank for getting me into his music. While I was looking up some songs for an upcoming episode of Audioeclectica Radio (Yes, it is coming back!), I totally remembered this really cool cover Prong (the very underrated Prong, I must say) did of the Neil Young classic “Cortez The Killer.” Check it out and enjoy!!!

If you’ve been living under a rock and have missed this cover Bad Wolves did of The Cranberries classic “Zombie,” now is a great time to listen. Dolores O’Riordan was due to lay down vocals on the cover the day she passed away. The band then released the song and donated proceeds of the song to her children. Today, Bad Wolves released the video they did for the song and I have to say it’s quite a cool homage to The Cranberries. Check it out!

I always find it to be interesting and cool when a heavy band takes on a more “alternative” sounding bands’ song. A few years back the band God Forbid, while working on their album Earthsblood, took a chance and did a cover of the Muse song “Stockholm Syndrome.” The did they song in their style and made it into quite a cool version. Check it out!!

I’ve said this many times before but, I really dig when a band does a cover and makes it their own and pays homage to a great band and song. I want to share a cover Pallbearer did of the classic Type O Negative song “Love You To Death.” While the vocals aren’t Peter Steele, you can still get those “dark” tones from singer Brett Campbell. Pallbearer is definitely one of those bands that just keeps getting better and better. I love that they took a chance on a song like this. Take a listen and let me know what you think. I’m quite interested to hear your opinions on this one.

I love when bands take on underrated and influential bands and cover their songs. More often than not, the band covering the song really brings something special to the table with their version. King Woman did just that with their cover of “I Wanna Be Adored” by The Stone Roses. Take a listen to this gem of a cover!

Jim Carroll is one of the most gifted and prolific writers of the past century. His poetry has inspired countless bands and songs. His writings be it The Basketball Diaries, poetry books, or songs are nothing short of special. During his time in the 70’s, Jim spent a good amount of time with bands and musicians like The Velvet Underground, particularly Lou Reed, He once lived with Patti Smith, and was a fixture at all the local hot spots in New York like CBGB’s and Max’s Kansas City. On his 1983 album I Write Your Name, he did a cover of The Velvet Underground’s “Sweet Jane,” and it’s probably the best cover of the song I’ve ever heard. Check it out!

There is a show on the internet called Two Minutes To Late Night. It’s quite funny and cool. Mutoid Man is the house band, which makes it even more awesome. Recently, the band Royal Thunder was a guest on the show and singer/bassist Mlny Parsonz (pronounced Melanie) did a rendition of Miley Cyrus’s song “Wrecking Ball.” This version is not only a million times better than Miley’s but it’s fucking awesome!
