Los Angeles’s Sisters Ov The Blackmoon is what you get when you add parts of doom metal, blues, and straight up rock n roll. This band is well thought out and crafted with great melodies, rhythms, and vocals that are raw and powerful. One can tell from listening to this band that the passion is oozing from each of members into their instruments and the songs they write. There are moments Sisters Ov The Blackmoon remind me of Royal Thunder especially in the vocals, and that’s a good thing. As a music fan I want to hear the vulnerability and spirit from those in the band, and they surely deliver the goods exponentially. Sisters Ov The Blackmoon are one of those bands that should be on your radar, as they are on mine!

This is exciting. Aeges are gearing up to release their newest album and if this what we can expect, then we are in for a treat. “Another Wasteland” is chock full of melody and crunchy riffs that will get you more than in the mood for more! This song will appear on the upcoming album Weightless, which should be out later this summer. In the mean time, check out the video below and play it loud. Aeges are part of the resurgence of rock music that I’ve been mentioning for some time. They are the real deal and do it with the utmost conviction and passion, and you can tell when you listen.

Band Of The Week: And We Are Them

And We Are Them, one of the first bands to be featured as Band Of The Week, just put out a new track called “Confirmation” off their upcoming E.P. entitled A Subtle Tyranny. The band whose influences include Quicksand, Thrice, No Knife and many others permeate through this new song. And We Are Them have a knack for coming up with songs that are energetic and full of melody. Each of their releases have shown great growth and ability as songwriters and a dynamic band. The conviction in which the song is sung and played is astounding. I think they’ve really upped their game with this new track. It’s a great play off their previous EP City Of Ghosts. If you haven’t checked out And We Are Them, now is your chance. And We Are Them are the kind of band that put their all into their music and it shows with every note played.

Band Of The Week: Bloody Knives

10387579_10153980186822158_7531621797874080022_n.jpg

Remember the days when you’d be out shopping for music and an album cover and or a bands name would grab your attention compelling you to check it out? Then when you put it on you are completely blown away. I recently came across this weeks band of the week Bloody Knives, after seeing a poster for their upcoming tour, and it totally had the “I must check this band out” effect. Bloody Knives hail from Austin and mix parts electronic, post punk, shoegazerock, industrial and psychedelia. Think Death From Above 1979 slowed down just a tad and My Bloody Valentine. Their newest single “Reflection Lies” from their upcoming release is awe inspiring. Their use of psychedelia takes you on a journey while listening. The moody vibes they put out through their music are euphoric and have a power to put you in a musical trance. Their previous work, especially their releases Death and Disappear are raw and unrelenting. Bloody Knives are one hell of a band and deserve to be on your radar!

Band Of The Week: Behold! The Monolith

11705556_10153466575029847_2180892300002772651_o.jpg

Sludge/Doom Metal is one of the many genres of heavy music I’ve grown to really enjoy over the years. There are bands out there that try to capture that element and fall short, and there are bands that really deliver the goods. Behold! The Monolith falls into the latter. With their blend of sludge/doom along with prog and thrash, not to mention influences ranging from The Melvins, Celtic Frost and High On Fire, Behold! The Monolith put themselves on the map. Their newest release Architects Of The Void, is an album with solid riffs, groovy drums and nice subtle bass that go perfectly well with the gruff vocals. Songs like “Philosopher’s Blade,” “The Mithridltist,” “Lord Of Bones,” and “Architects Of The Void,” are stellar tracks. Behold! The Monolith are for sure a band that should be on your radar if you are looking for a great new sludge/doom metal band.

Band Of The Week: InAeona

11953071_10153453560936858_1310925170327556797_n.jpg

The band of the week feature is my absolute favorite category to write on my site. Not only do I get to discover new music, but I get to share that all with you. This week I present to you InAeona. This three piece from Boston combines epic and eerie melodies with space rock, post metal and bits of electronica (mainly from the ambient/industrial side). The band themselves have been at it for a while, developing their sound and gaining a passionate following. Their latest release Force Rise The Sun, is ferocious in its intensity and delivers an astounding amount of hope and passion. I had the pleasure of seeing InAeona a few months back when they played with Sidewave (a favorite of Audioeclectica’s), and their live show was intense and striking. InAeona is a band that needs to be on everyone’s radar. They really have the chops and package to really deliver a blast of rock that is needed in today’s music climate.

Band Of The Week: 1000 Suns

11048659_958314104199331_8525807203232191925_o.jpg

Over the past few years I’ve really taken a liking to instrumental bands. There is something really intriguing about bands that can do it all musically without a singer. This weeks band of the week 1000 Suns falls into that realm of instrumental bands. 1000 Suns is a very inspired three piece that takes the instrumental game to another level. The bands use of effects, samples and electronics are used in a way that it enhances the sound. Since 2012, 1000 Suns have released two very intriguing and boundary pushing albums. Their songs range from moody pieces that transcend reality into something soothing, to epic and heavy songs that attack with tenacious riffs and arrangements. 1000 Suns are gearing writing for a new album release soon as well as enlightening audiences with their live show.

Band Of The Week: Choirs

10310096_728949330461435_7796221354315378412_n.jpg

Over the past 16 years I’ve really developed a love for the post-hardcore genre. There is something about the vulnerability of these bands that strikes a chord with me. I really love when these types of bands take it a step further and include influences you normally wouldn’t find in this type of music. All this brings me to this weeks band of the week Choirs. This Bakersfield, CA based quintet is soaking in lush post-hardcore melody. I would describe their music as a cross between Sparta, Thursday and Explosions In The Sky. The added use of ambience in their music helps to create a distance from the generic norm of post-hardcore. They have been releasing  music since 2011 and are gearing up to hit the studio again very shortly. Choirs are on the path to really taking their music to the next level especially after their previous release Usalkt, which is quite captivating.

Band Of The Week: Gladiators Eat Fire

10394124_10153121691426170_4341618106895401805_n.jpg

Don’t let the name fool you, Gladiators Eat Fire are a force to be reckoned with. They mix parts of post-hardcore, stoner rock, and old fashioned rock and roll to form a sound that doesn’t allow you to miss.  Produced by Matt Bayles (Mastodon, The Sword, Botch) their newest EP Avant Garage is quite lethal and unrelenting. This four piece hailing from Seattle is well on it’s way to leaving a mark in the scene. One can tell that these gents put it all out there when performing live, and make sure you remember their name when they are done.

Band Of The Week: Matriarchs

10406509_864468236924798_4625136702216591583_n.jpg

The hardcore genre has undergone a few changes since its inception, but the true spirit of what the genre started as lives on in a few bands still. Last weekend while I was at the Whisky to see Vision Of Disorder, the first band I saw that night left me really excited. Matriarchs delivered the goods and represented hardcore music to the fullest. Their sound incorporates a tinge of metal, yet still rings true to the roots. Their EP Scandalous Jointz, reminds me of old school Hatebreed and Agnostic Front with a little bit of old Throwdown in there. Live, these guys are intense and command the stage. Vocalist Richard Barthel is quite a force. His gutteral vocals and true to life lyrics get the point across clearly. The band also features ex-members of well-known bands like Hoods, Ruckus, and The Faceless, making Matriarchs a band with countless influences to expand upon as time goes on. Check them out if you need to get your fix of well done hardcore.
