The Damned Things Are Back!!! The group featuring Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die, Scott Ian from Anthrax, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley of Fall Out Boy have returned with their first new music in 9 (yes 9) years!!! Joining them this time around is Dan Andriano the bassist from Alkaline Trio. This first song released, “Cells” is from their upcoming new album, High Crimes, which will be out April 26 (via Nuclear Blast Records). I loved their debut record when it came out and saw them live and it was truly a blast to see. I’m really looking forward to the rest of this album! Check out “Cells” below!!!
If you are not familiar with Helms Alee, you really should be. For more than a decade, with five studio albums, and countless EP’s, Helms Alee has quietly been carving their own path and are busting at the seams waiting to explode. On April 26th, Helms Alee will unleash their fifth studio album, Noctiluca via Sargent House. This three piece band featuring drummer Hozoji Matheson-Margullis, bassist Dana James and guitarist Ben Verellen are not to be reckoned with. Noctiluca continues the bands tradition of sludgy riffs, lush instrumentals, and soaring melodies. The first single released, also the albums opener, “Interachnid” is one hell of a way to kick things off and get you engrossed in what’s to come on this new journey of an album. Helms Alee has always been the type of band that gives it their all on each release. They have a sort of psychedelic sense to their savage being allthe while, they are able to cut away to parts that really take you places. This new Helms Alee album is anticipated for sure!

Back in 2017, Spotlights released their very awesome album, Seismic. I played the hell out of that album too. Now, Spotlights are back with a new full length album, Love & Decay. Picking up where they left off with Seismic, Mario and Sarah Quintero along with Chris Enriquez have delivered a new collection of dreamy shoegazey songs that this time around tinge on the edges of post hardcore and doom, to create a grittier sound. The first song released, “The Age of Decay” is doomy and kind of reminds me a little bit of Isis (the band) on their In The Absence of Truth era. Check it out!!!
Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton is preparing to release his debut solo album March 1, 2019. This is an album that Mark has been working on for a while. In a recent interview Mark went on to say “This album wasn’t a concerted effort to start something outside Lamb of God,” he explains. “Music is always in my head, and until I write and record it, it’s stuck there. But once I record it, it’s out. It’s a catharsis, more for my own sanity.” So needless to say, this album is full of variety and riffs galore. The album features Mark playing all the guitars with guest accompaniment from the likes of Roy Mayorga, David Ellefson, Ray Luzier, Paolo Gregoletto, Alex Bent, Mike Inez, Jean-Paul Gaster, Steve Gorman, Marc Ford, Yanni Papadopoulos, and Chris Brooks rounding out the band. Anesthetic sure seems like a beast of an album. Two songs have been released already “The Truth Is Dead” featuring Arch Enemy’s Alissa White- Gluz and Mark’s Lamb of God mate Randy Blyth, and “Cross Off” which features the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park.

2018 brought us a slew of great albums. From the new Alice In Chains, Daughters, Failure, The Atlas Moth and so many more.
2019 is shaping up to be quite a year for new music as well. The following bands are either releasing new music this year or are supposed to. Either way these are the most Anticipated Albums of 2019 (so far).
One of the albums I’m anticipating for 2019 is the debut by the band Fact Pattern. They have already released the single/video for the song “My Guard Down.” Now they have unleashed another gem called “A Form To Be” from their upcoming album. This three piece band led by singer/guitarist Ian Flux along with drummer Rannen Bozzio and bassist Jack Lowd have really done the industrial sound justice and gave it an interesting electronic twist. This new song reminds me a bit of Orgy’s Candyass album and Deadsy’s debut album. Check out the track and video, you’ll quite enjoy it!
Fact Pattern- A Form To Be:
We are a ways out from a new Slipknot album but, they seem to have been keeping busy. Today, they released a new song called “All Out Life” which is supposed to appear on their upcoming album. Enjoy!
The Smashing Pumpkins are a few weeks away from releasing their new album, Shiny and Oh So Bright Volume I (out November 16). This first collection of songs is the first in over 19 years with William Patrick Corgan (he has stopped going by Billy), Jimmy Chamberlain and James Iha. The first two songs released so far, “Solara” and “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)” are fantastic songs that sound modern but still hark back to the bands heyday. There is a planned Volume II that is supposed to be released later on next year along with a full length tour.

A couple years back while at a Dillinger Escape Plan show, I got to witness the beautifully devastating band Cult Leader. I was totally blown away by them. Their set that night was intense and hypnotic, leading me to coin a new sub-genre, hypnotic hardcore. Their 2015 album Lightless Walk, is one of the best metallic hardcore albums in the past decade. So naturally, when Cult Leader released their new song “I Am Healed” from their up coming album, A Patient Man (out November 9th via Deathwish Inc), I got all giddy. Picking up where they left off with Lightless Walk, this new album is shaping up to be something brutal and devastating yet full of surprises. Speaking of surprises check out the next single “To: Achlys,” what an amazing song!
One of the UK’s best bands, Architects, are gearing up to release a new album entitled Holy Hell, out November 9th via Epitaph Records. Holy Hell is the bands first album without their founding guitarist and principal songwriter, Tom Searle. The album’s first single, Hereafter, is a crushingly melodic track, that shows the versatility of what Architects can do. Speaking about what the album is about drummer Dan Searle said “Holy Hell is about pain: the way we process it, cope with it, and live with it. There is value in pain. It’s where we learn, it’s where we grow.” Based on that, Holy Hell, looks to be one hell of a deep and dark album.
