The other day I was talking to a friend about Audioslave. While chatting, I got the urge to skip around and listen to a few of my favorite songs by them. One thing I noticed was, the first few songs I picked also happened to be the last song on each album. So, with that in mind, take a few moments and delve into these really great songs. I truly wish, they would have toured on their third and final album, Revelations. That album is superb. RIP, Chris!

Back in 2006 for a VH1 tribute to Heart, Ann and Nancy Wilson asked Alice In Chains to be a part of the celebration. This evening was also the debut of William DuVall on vocals with the band but, the biggest surprise more so was when Phil Anselmo of Pantera, Down, etc came out to join them for “Would.” It starts out sort of very iffy but, as the performance continues, Anselmo finds his footing and truly delivers. Duff McKagan also joined Alice this evening, playing guitar for them.

One of the best things about going back through a band’s catalog is finding all the things you forgot about. Over the last couple years, I’ve rediscovered my love for The Smashing Pumpkins, and through my journey, I keep finding so many wonderful gems. For example, in the deluxe edition of Pisces Iscariot, there are so many great songs on the bonus disc. This cover of Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl” was one I forgot about. It’s really a very cool cover with a different vibe, a la 90’s. The Type O Negative cover of this song is still the best but, the pumpkins sure do a damn good job with it.

Best Guitar Solos: Red Hot Chili Peppers- Don’t Forget Me

Simply put, John Frusciante is a guitar legend. He is seriously amazing. Over the years, I’ve really come to love his input in the band and style he brings. This song, is off their album By The Way, which is quite underrated for many reasons. One of them being that, this is a very John driven album. “Don’t Forget Me” is one of the best songs on the album and it’s one of the bands best too. Just so happens to be a favorite of mine too. I could have easily put this in the alternate versions section but, this solo is just so damn good, it has to go here. So, enjoy what you are about to witness and hear!

New Release: Greg Puciato- Deep Set

Well, we are definitely getting closer to the day that Greg Puciato’s debut solo album, Child Soldier: Creator Of God is released this summer. So far two songs have been released. The first being “Fire For Water” and now “Deep Set.” Both songs are different from each other but, still pack one hell of a punch. I’m very intrigued by these two songs and am highly anticipating this album. Even the cover art for the “Deep Set” single is great, as it pays homage to Soundgarden’s Louder Than Love. Also worth noting is that the drums on “Deep Set” were played by Chris Hornbrook (Poison The Well, Dhani Harrison, etc) and he absolutely rips it up on the skins! Do yourself a favor and play this song multiple times today.
